The works by Studio van de Griend are often referred to as "A modern interpretation of the old Masters". The technique uses in her monochrome paintings is unconventional. She puts a layer of paint in one color all over the canvas and then the sculptor starts to work from the outside inward by taking away the paint and using the color of the canvas to create different intensities to make an image appear. This technique is very intense as the artist is very limited in her time due to the drying of the paint.

Painting in assignment :
To have a good realistic reference we meets up with the person that wishes to be portrayed and then works from photographs and video material. The Portrait are made in oil paint on canvas. It is also possible to have a portrait made of a loved one or someone who has past away.
